May immediately fell in love with Coach Kelly’s style of teaching and the family-like community after she was invited to check out the fledgling gym back when it was still in Kelly’s garage, so she eventually followed Kelly to K-Fit and became a regular. Since then May has found that being at K-Fit has challenged her body and mind in ways she would have never imagined.
May describes K-fit as her safe space, like a second home, where there is no judgement, just camaraderie. She recalls one workout—100 hang cleans for time at 95 pounds—where all her gym mates were cheering her on as she literally cried through pain and frustration to finish her last 10 hang cleans before everyone erupted in screams so loud she couldn’t believe what she had accomplished.
May doesn’t just love K-fit for her own triumphs however. One of her favorite things about K-fit is the absence of age limit or restraint on who can do our workouts. She has seen Kelly successfully and patiently coach kids, teenagers, and adults of all ages and stages of fitness, and even with injury. She is impressed how Kelly is always able to alter and modify a workout to fit what works for them. And now that May is pregnant and mostly just helping coach, she continues to thrive on seeing other people have the same exhilarating feeling of accomplishment she has experienced.
While pregnancy has been tough for her, she is still trying to stay active through her pregnancy and maintain mobility. May credits K-Fit for preparing her body for the process and is eager to get back to where she was at the gym once her little boy makes his debut.
We are so grateful to have May with us! She encourages, she pushes, she cheers, and she makes us laugh! She also amazes us with her strength!
