When I was nearing 40, I had had enough of feeling like crap all the time. My daughter and I joined a local gym where we could go together. During that time, I lost weight, again, and although it took me a long time, something inside me started to change. Part of my changing experience was meeting Jared, now co-owner of Cross Fit Envy. I didn’t know it at the time but he was working CrossFit on me, as well as encouraging me and helping me believe I could do it.
I had no Idea what to expect my first time doing CrossFit. I was scared, but I did it anyway and I have never looked back. I had no idea the impact it would make in my life. Now, more than eight years after starting any exercise at all, I’m the healthiest and in the best shape I have been in EVER, and I feel a sense of empowerment that I have never experienced.
I really want to help people who can relate to me, or may have had similar struggles, know that it’s never too late to get started. I am still new at all this and have a lot to learn but it’s a far cry from the girl who failed PE in high school three times because she wouldn’t even wear the shorts in front of people. I love what my friend Joanie said to me one day while we were doing back squats, “Whose life is this?” It’s mine actually, and I love it!
I’ve played football most of my life from Pop-Warner to recreation. I have never been really flexible and struggled with my weight. Being a truck driver doesn’t help.
One day my best friend was talking to me about Crossfit and how it might help me. I looked into it and gave it a try. I then found K-Fit. Being here has helped me with my flexibility and weight. I learned so much and enjoyed the work outs, so I decided I wanted to help others in their struggles.
I am now a level one trainer and enjoy helping others. I may be a little goofy at times, but I get it in here at K-Fit. I am looking forward to helping people!
After struggling with my fitness journey since my teen years, I finally realized I needed to find my perfect fit gym. I’ve always been pretty athletic, but it was just a matter of finding a comfortable environment to work on my goals. I’m happy to say I found that place, my second home, in K-Fit Functional Fitness in 2015. Being able to come into a family-style, judgement-free zone has been so refreshing. My favorite things to do here are wall balls and anything that involves the bar. Push jerks, snatches, and power cleans are definitely my jam. I’ve been lucky enough to help out with coaching a day or two a week and I absolutely love it! I enjoy watching people learn the right techniques for lifting and seeing them push themselves further than they thought possible. It’s a thrill! When I’m not focusing on my fitness goals, I like to go on road trips with my husband and enjoy my new venture into motherhood!
